Hello! My name is Selim Rantapuro, a Finnish jazz guitarist living in The Hague. Being a musician means many different things to me, performing and creating music is an endless pleasure. Conveying something with music to people is something that cannot be told by words, and it feels great.

By teaching I pass my knowledge of music for others to use, and at the same time, teaching and explaining things to others has helped me to understand my instrument better, and to become a better player. I use my own methods and sometimes I suit them with other methods that are used in the method books of well known music institutes, depending on student's level, desires and needs. At the lessons, I might hand in material that we go through. It can be a technique, a song, a scale or anything.

I have been studying both classical and electric guitar during my lifetime. I have studied music occupationally since 2012, first in Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory and in Royal Conservatory of Hague jazz from 2015 on. I perform in various bands consisting different genres as a freelance musician, and my favourite line-up, a trio consists of guitar, bass and drums, and we play my own compositions.

I am happy to invite a student to a trial lesson for 50% discount from normal price, to see if guitar is an appealing instrument to start a musical adventure with, or to continue the musical journey that the student has already started. I can also teach theory lessons and give advice in composition.
