Over Pablo H.
My name is Pablo and I am a trombone player, flamenco singer and cajón (percussion) player from Murcia (Spain). I have been surrounded by music since I was a child because I come from a family of musicians, so I found the inspiration to study music at home. I studied in both The Netherlands and Spain, obtaining a master degree in jazz trombone and bass trombone by the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and a Bachelor degree in classical music by the Conservatory of Murcia (Spain). Also, coming from the south of Spain where flamenco comes from, I sing flamenco and play cajón professionally for many years now.
Currently I am living in Amsterdam where I play with bands such as the Metropole Okest, the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, CaboCubaJazz, Daahoud Salim Quintet, Latin Society, The BvR Flamenco Big Band, Labryenco and my own project Pablo Martínez Flamenco-Jazz Band, among many others.
Therefore I can offer you trombone lessons in which you can learn how to play the trombone as well as getting started in the style of your choice: jazz, classical or flamenco, as well as flamenco singing and cajón lessons.
In my lessons I will teach my students the technical basic skills, knowledge of jazz, bebop, modern jazz, and related styles, such as latin jazz, fusion and flamenco if requested. Furthermore, I will teach them ensemble playing, section playing, and lead playing.
I will do this ideally in weekly 60-minute lessons, in which the most important subjects are technique and improvisation, aside from building repertoire and practicing scales, arpeggios, and interval structures.
For experienced students, I will also stimulate them to develop an individual style. Among other things by using the ’horizontal improvisation’, stressing the connections between chords. We will also practice focussing and remaining focussed while playing.
