Over Jacopo R.
“Music is Beautiful, music is Joy, music is Life” My first teacher Nevio Zanardi passed on his idea to me. That is why I think that teaching is not only a capability, but it is first of all a mission.
As ateacher, I have a duty to transmit passion to the pupil: passion for the music, passion for playing, passion for practicing.
I am Jacopo and the cello has been present in my life from when I was ten. After two
master degrees in performance, I started teaching and working as a freelancer. I explored
different musical styles, however my desire to improve made me meet with the cellist
Antonio Meneses, whom I followed for two years. I feel very lucky since during those two
years I experienced to be a student and to be a teacher at the same time: to learn and
to share. I personally feel that my skills as a teacher have widened and deepened in that
As a freelancer, I met many musicians and colleagues unhappy of their own practicing but
with a lazy approach to it. I was surprised since any musician should enjoy the process
that makes him able to express beauty?
When I started to teach I immediately got the point: without a good method it is hard to
improve, without improvement frustration will increase instead of joy.
A good method gives the tools for emphasising the nature of the student and pushing
forward the limits of his talent.
Any pupil (whatever age and level) deserves care from the teacher who should never
forget to spread how beautiful music itself is and playing the cello.
How come that you live in the Netherlands?
The baroque music and historical performance practice brought me to this beautiful
country. I’m now completing my master course in the Utrechts Conservatorium with Viola
de Hoog. I don’t speak Dutch yet, but I’m planning to learn it!
During my years of practicing, it increased my desire to understand the performance
practice of the past centuries. Sources, treatises, analysis of historical contexts and many
other ingredients make the subject extremely interesting. I am glad to share it to anybody
who is interested.
Are you a student and you need help?
Did you fall in love with the cello and you desire to play it?
Any age and level are welcome!
Book a trial lesson! I will do my best to make your musical experience beautiful.
Why does the playing the cello need a lot of practice?
Because the skill will create the beauty.
