Over Agustin F. R.
Hi all and welcome to my profile! - My name is Agustin and I am percussionist, drummer who feels passionate for music education. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance, Music Therapy and Psychology from State University of New York, Fredonia. I am also currently pursuing a Masters of Music in Drum Set at the Hogeschool voorde Kunsten Utrecht Conservatorium. I have over 10 years in the music education field, teaching a range of students from beginner students looking to learn more about drums, percussion and music, to advanced students on percussion and drums seeking to audition at universities as well as continue developing their skills as professional players.
As an educator I not only bring my set of expertise with passion in an individualized manner, but also have a wealth of knowledge which I have gathered from personally studying with world renown percussionists, drummers and musicians. Some of these include Dr. Kay Stonefelt(Broadway Percussionist in NYC), Eric Shin( Principal Percussionist of National Symphony Orchestra), Shawn Pelton( Drum set player for Saturday Night Live), Joost Kesselaar ( Jazz drummer and recording artist), as well as studying Karnatic rhythms and musicality with composer and musician Ned McGowan.
Throughout my years studying I have also found it important to utilize all of the skills, techniques and abilities my prior teachers have passed down to me. In my career as a performer I have had the fortune of playing in countless music venues in New York City, Washington DC, Santiago Chile, as well as here in the Netherlands in Amsterdam and Utrecht with bands such as Parrot Dream, Snowapple and Birch, as well as with renown classical ensembles such as American Wind Symphony Orchestra, Chautaqua Symphony, and Fairfax Symphony. While I have had many roles in the music industry, my passion lies in education; As an engaging drum set and percussion instructor, I strive to provide music lessons rooted in humanistic philosophy allowing to cater each lesson in an individualized manner and develop richer and more meaningful relationships with each student.
So after getting to know me a bit better, I soon hope to see you, drummers, non-drummers, beginners and advanced players!
