What can you expect from Jin Kim as a piano teacher?
“During my lessons, my students have often felt like they wanted to express their previous experiences with piano lessons to me.
A very common comment on those occasions was the lack of a decent grasp on their own progress, even though they took weekly lessons.
They don't feel that way anymore.
The key focus of my lessons is making sure that each student gets a personalised program, tailored to their interests, needs, abilities and rate of progress.
It's never just a "stock lesson" for me. I want my students to feel empowered and safe, meaning that I want them to feel like they can be themselves 100% and feel comfortable enough to perform in front of me or any potential audience.
This requires a good overview of the student's character and musical intuition, factors that can't be glossed over carelessly.
Developing and maintaining a comfortable relationship with a good teacher can be very difficult, especially with one that understands your personal situation and who is willing to help you to truly achieve your personal goals, one milestone at a time.
Each student is spending their time and money on these lessons, so I want to make sure that I do the best job that I can, guiding them in the right direction.
I want them to practice out of their own volition and make friends with the piano, so that they develop a natural desire to spend time with the instrument.
Inspiration and natural motivation are critical to my approach to teaching.
For a long time, my life has been about making music. I want nothing more than for people to experience the beauty and joy that comes with learning the piano in an optimal setting.
Regarding this, I do not take many students at once, so those that do become my students always get my undivided attention.
Watching you develop and feel good about learning together with me is my motivation and inspiration as a teacher and a fellow musician.
Are you interested to have lessons with me? Then you're very welcome to apply for a trial lesson!”
